Get Well and Baby Greetings....
by Lorna
I had quite a few cards to make for friends who were unwell, and those having babies recently, so I decided to create a similar base for the card. These cards were made in the same way as I made Gunnar's one for his Eagle Scout Project, but instead I used a thinner ribbon and different stamps. I hope you like the results.
A Cemetery Theme....
by Lorna
This Saturday, Gunnar Petersen, a young man who lives in our township was presented with his Eagle Scout award for the restoration of the entrance arch for the Free Union Cemetery, landscaping the church memory garden, and a lot of tidying of the cemetery itself.
We wanted to give him a special and themed gift, so I ordered a gravestone rubbing kit from Gravestone Rubbing Supplies. Then I set about to make him a card which would convey the cemetery theme, and inspire him as an Eagle Scout to continue a life of service.
I found a very cute gravestone stamp in my collection, which was part of the Stampin'Up Bitty Boos collection froma few years ago. I used that on the top half of the card. The bottom half I ran through the Big Shot in one of my embossing folders. I attached these together and added ribbon across the middle. Finally, I stamped the following wonderful words by John Wesley, mounted them, and attached them to the bottom of the card. I was delighted to find these words on a stamp, which is produced by Kaspareks
Do all the good you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can.

A Butterfly Benediction
by Lorna
May the morning sun caress you,
The rains of change refresh you,
And the gentle breeze of His Spirit
Lift the wings of your transformation.

Death can sometimes come quickly, and for our friend Amy and her family this happened when her husband, Doug, died very unexpectedly last Thursday. Last night we visited at the funeral home, to meet with Amy, her family and friends.
I sat down to create a sympathy card for Amy, and her family, yesterday afternoon, and I just felt a butterfly had to be on it. I was delighted a number of years ago to obtain a Monarch stamp through Stampin'Up, as I raise Monarchs. The word butterfly in Greek means 'soul', so it seemed very appropriate to include one on the card. I also discovered, when returning home, that our friend, and butterfly expert, Pat Sutton, had seen her first Monarch in Cape May, New Jersey.
Quilted Cards....
by Lorna
Quilting is a craft that uses up scraps, and when I saw this idea for using up paper scraps, it so reminded me of quilting that I decided to give this entry that title. I was sent this idea by Gretchen Barron of Stamping 411. She, and other demonstrators share some great ideas with stampers and they have provided me with lots of inspiration. Here is the link for the web site-

Anyway back to the cards, I cut 4 one inch papers from my scraps. As Stampin'Up papers have designs on the backs and fronts, I was able to alternate the papers for additional designs. I added them to my card and then make a strip to go across the bottom, and punched out 1 inch circles from the remaining scraps to adhere to the horizontal strip. I finished the cards with a rose of various colors and a greeting. A great way of using up scraps!
One of the cards is going to Madeleine, my God-daughter's sister, for her birthday this month. Like her sister's birthday gift, featured in a previous blog, I was able to add a design and M for Madeleine to a small charm, and to this I added a chain, so she can wear this as a necklace.
